MISSISSAUGA, ON – Today, INFINITI unveiled the next step in the brand's strategy to expand into new premium segments, with the INFINITI Q30 concept making its national debut at the Canadian International Auto Show (CIAS) in Toronto. After a record-breaking year for the brand in Canada, up 11.9 per cent with 8,947 vehicles sold, and its best January ever, the INFINITI Q30 Concept is a sign of more great things to come for Canadian consumers.

Deliberately challenging categorization with its design shape, the Q30 Concept fuses the dynamic design and sportiness of a coupe, the roominess of a hatch and the higher stance and visual perspective of a crossover.

"With its sleek profile and visual promise of engaging performance and dynamics, the INFINITI Q30 Concept will resonate with today's young-minded customers who refuse to be defined by labels or conventions," said Wendy Durward, Director, INFINITI Canada.

INFINITI designers were given the freedom to explore seductive alternatives to traditional premium automobile brands, resulting in a very modern design with a sleek silhouette, dynamic character and artistically sculpted, individualistic interior design. It features a dramatic exterior shape, particularly the body sides, which include bold sections, deep undercuts and intersecting lines.

Full-bodied in form and highly sculptural in shape, the Q30 Concept is unmistakably INFINITI and shows the personality and authenticity you can achieve when not chasing the status quo.

"The Q30 Concept shares key INFINITI design cues with the new 2014 INFINITI Q50 and visionary INFINITI concept vehicles like Essence, Etherea and Emerg-e," said Durward. "Adding to that, INFINITI's Director of Performance, four-time F1 World Champion Sebastian Vettel, will have significant input into the production version, so you know this will be a driver's car."

Inside, the Q30 Concept embodies INFINITI's ambition to be a leader in the premium segment in interior design and quality.  Warm, inviting and emotionally engaging, with a unique execution of INFINITI's "dual wave" effect, the Q30 Concept advances the sculptural appeal that is pure INFINITI.

Award-Winning Line-up

Also on display at the CIAS this year, are two award-winning INFINITI vehicles – the 2014 INFINITI Q50 Sports Sedan and the 2014 INFINITI QX60.

After naming the Q50 sports sedan "Best Luxury Car over $50,000" by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) this fall, AJAC also recently awarded INFINITI with both of this this year's "Best New Technologies" for two of the world's first technologies both introduced on the Q50 – Predictive Forward Collision Warning and Direct Adaptive Steering.

Today, ALG added another award to INFINITI's cabinet, naming the QX60 luxury crossover, as the Canadian Residual Value Award winner in the Premium Midsize Utility Vehicle (3-row) segment for the second straight year.

"Being recognized by organizations like AJAC and ALG is a great honour and a sign that INFINITI is moving in the right direction and bringing inspired performance to the Canadian market," said Durward. "The Q50 sports sedan and QX60 luxury crossover continue to be our top sellers with each featuring an exciting and efficient hybrid option for those looking for even greater fuel efficiency and performance."
