Montreal, QC/Mississauga, Ont. — After recording six consecutive years of sales growth in Canada, INFINITI begins 2018 by revealing the brand's new flagship vehicle, the all-new QX50 at the Montreal International Show (MIAS).

"Over the years, INFINITI has launched several world-first technologies, and we're continuing that trend with the QX50, which will offer the first-ever production variable compression engine - the VC-Turbo. The QX50 is the most important INFINITI vehicle we have ever launched; it is a flagship for the brand with its distinctive design, powerful performance and advanced technologies. This mid-size luxury SUV arrives at the perfect time in one of the fastest-growing segments in Canada."

- Adam Paterson, Director INFINITI Canada

The QX50 is not only important for INFINITI, but also for the automotive industry in general as it features the world's first commercial variable compression engine. In development for over 20 years, this revolutionary engine allows the vehicle to adapt to the needs of the driver by adjusting its compression ratio to optimize its power and fuel consumption.

A high compression ratio improves efficiency and fuel consumption while a low compression ratio develops more power and torque. On the road, the 2019 QX50's VC-Turbo engine intelligently adjusts the compression ratio between 8:1 (performance) and 14:1 (efficiency). Deploying smart power for greater control, the empowering engine exemplifies INFINITI's driver-centric approach. Equipped with the VC-Turbo engine, the QX50 offers best-in-class* combined fuel economy of 7.8 L/100 km.

In addition to the all-new QX50, INFINITI introduced the redesigned QX80 at the 2018 MIAS. This powerful, full-size SUV stands out for its refinement, powerful design language, high quality interior and strong performance.
