  • First time an INFINITI has ever been shortlisted
  • Nomination comes on the heels of multiple awards around the world

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – INFINITI's new sports sedan, the all-new Q50, is one of the finalists for the 2014 World Car of the Year ("WCOTY") award. The inclusion in this last stage of the WCOTY voting is a first for INFINITI since the brand started its global expansion just a few years ago.

The Q50 embodies INFINITI's vision to deliver emotive design, intuitive technology, precise fit, finish and craftsmanship. It is rich with technologies that increase driver enjoyment and make driving safer, not just for Q50 owners, but also those around them. The four-time Formula One world champion Sebastian Vettel, in his capacity as INFINITI Director of Performance, has been actively involved in the testing and development of the driving dynamics of the Q50.

The Q50, the Q50 Eau Rouge Concept and the Q30 Concept are the three most recent examples of the INFINITI product portfolio expansion, which underpins the company's aggressive global growth strategy.

Since its North American launch in summer last year, the Q50 has already received multiple awards from organizations around the world. With five-star ratings in the U.S. and a "top safety pick plus" rating from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety, the Q50 is likely one of the safest cars on the road today.

The editors of "Popular Science" also named INFINITI's groundbreaking Direct Adaptive Steering system to their "Best of What's New" list. DAS is a revolutionary steer-by-wire technology that has been used in airplanes and fighter jets for many years. Q50 features the world's first application of this technology in production cars. It offers multiple benefits such as more precise, more direct and faster steering; elimination of vibrations from the road surface; and, consequently, significantly reduced stress on the driver's body.
